I am Ungrateful.

I just heard one of the most important messages ever made by Andy Stanley.

He did a one part sermon on gratitude called “I. O. Who?”

Andy discussed how important gratitude really is in our relationships with God and with others. He made the simple but effective point that “Unexpressed gratitude is ingratitude”. So many people, including myself, are very grateful towards someone, yet they tell everyone they know except for that person. It doesn’t matter if you tell everyone, if you don’t tell that person. Because that person sees that as rejection.

To refuse to pay my debts of gratitude is to live with an inflated view of myself.

By refusing to show your gratitude to those who have served you is to say that what they did was expected and shouldn’t be thanked.

Gratitude closes the loop in our relationship with God and others.

Andy used the great example of a mother reminding her child to say thank you. That thank you closes the loop. Without an expression of gratitude, that person feels rejected.

This is something that I need to embrace and live out. Expressing gratitude to everyone who has helped me. I need to be a returner.

A returner is someone who is willing to go back to those who enabled them to go forward.

The first thing that really hit me when I heard this message from andy was that I am rejecting God. I take my forgiveness and I run. I am ungrateful to Him.

That hit me. I am rejecting the only One who can save me. I have rejected He who died on the cross for me. I need to accept his gift of forgiveness with more gratitude than ever before.

For He died to save me.

How humbling.

Christmas Music. Finally.

The best time of the year.

I absolutely love Christmas music.

I start playing it around the end of the summer, but most people don’t agree with my timing so I’ve decided to wait until now to blog about it.

I’ve heard that after Thanksgiving Holiday it is appropriate to begin playing Christmas music.

For the past few weeks I have been perfecting my Christmas music playlist.

I have been working off of this playlist for 2 or 3 years and I think I’ve got it down to a science.

It started with all of the traditional songs and it has now evolved to be a nice mix of modern and traditional.

And yes, there will be songs that will have to be left out.

But fear not, there will be a second edition of the playlist.

It’s wonderful what joy Christmas music can bring to your family and even more important what joy the spirit of God can bring to us all.

Whenever I start listening to Christmas music, It reminds me where all of the joy in the world comes from.

It reminds me that without Christ, Christmas and happiness would not exist.

So here it is, the first annual Christmas playlist:
1. Wonderful Christmas Time – Paul McCartney
2. Jingle Bell Rock – Bobby Helms
3. What Christmas Means to Me – Stevie Wonder
4. Do You Hear? – James David Carter
5. Merry Christmas, Here’s To Many More – Relient K
6. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree – Brenda Lee
7. All I Want For Christmas Is You – Vinca Vance And The Valiants
8. Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas – Relient K
9. In Like A Lion (Always Winter) – Relient K
10. Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow – Michael BublĂ©
11. Please Come Home For Christmas – The Eagles
12. All Creation Sing (Joy to the World) – Seth Condrey
13. Happy Xmas (War is Over) – John and Yoko
14. Everything Changed – Eddie Kirkland
15. Autumn Leaves – Vince Guaraldi Trio
16. I Celebrate The Day – Relient K
17. A Holly Jolly Christmas – Burl Ives
18. Last Christmas – Wham!
19. Sleigh Ride – Relient K
20. White Christmas – Bing Crosby
21. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Frank Sinatra
22. Please Come Home for Christmas – Jon Bon Jovi
23. Christmas Time Is Here – Vince Guaraldi Trio

Please leave your feedback on the playlist in the comments!

And your Favorite Christmas song of all time!
(Mine is “What Christmas Means to Me” by Stevie Wonder)
